Reborn
I was driving around downtown Spartanburg today and the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I was thinking of Christ-mas and the new year; looking at a lamp-post that was decorated with garland and a big gold bow. I could visualize the garland and the bow being taken down. I got sad for one moment, but I realized that it’s almost a new year. A new year means new things, new blessings, new mercies, hope, more souls won to the kingdom, more chances, etc. As I looked at the lamp-post I thought of old things being taken off and new things being put on (Ephesians 4:22). I am reminded of my own restoration that the Lord brought me through (September 2007-April 2009). God took my “old self” away and clothed me with righteousness (Isaiah 61:10). He can do the same for you. Whatever you’re going through, God wants to help you (divorce, pain, miscarriage, abortion(s), cutting, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, suicidal thoughts, depression, …). Just as the city workers are going to take the garland and bow off of the lamp-post; God will take away the things from you that are causing pain, heartache, confusion, self-hatred, anger, bitterness, etc. God will and can make you completely new. He too can clothe you in righteousness.
- (Isaiah 61:10)- I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
- (Ephesians 4:22-24)- that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
- (2 Corinthians 4:16)- Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward [man] is being renewed day by day.
